The McNichols building in Denver's Civic Center will remain open until Tuesday morning, officials announced Friday.
Temperatures will continue to be below freezing at night throughout the weekend and there's a chance of heavy snow on Monday.
The building holds more than 200 people, Derek Woodbury, spokesperson for Denver's Department of Housing Stability (HOST) previously told us. He said a HOST outreach team ensures the unhoused are aware of these shelters when making connections at encampments.
The building was previously slated to stay open as a warming center and overnight shelter until Friday morning, then pushed back to Saturday morning until this latest update.
Woodbury said departments make joint decisions to open or extend extra shelters.
The McNichols Civic Center Building is located at 144 W. Colfax Ave. Officials recommend accessing "front door" shelters to access available beds.
